Rules & Standards

The Rules of THE BRETHREN are simple but subject to The Warlord making occasional exceptions for extenuating circumstances that sometimes occur. The Grand Council may be consulted, depending on the individual situation.

If a rule escapes your understanding, ask a member of the Grand Council. These rules are subject to modification or change, as the games we participate in progress.

No member of The Brethren may kill another player unless defending the weak, the innocent, another Brethren or yourself. (Organized and agreed dueling/tournament in approved areas is the only exception.) Members and Recruits should only kill others who attack a member without provocation, who loot others, who attack innocent/friendly good persons in sight, or persons listed on the Most Wanted List whose Evil actions and intent are unmistakable.

Members may use what ever means are necessary to ensure victory in the fight against evil. On occasion that may demand breaking a {B} rule and will require special permission from the Grand Council.

Members must always show respect to higher ranks by offering control of ongoing hunt or meetings to the highest rank present.

Members will demonstrate regard for fellow members with The Brethren Greeting.

Members are expected to make an effort to attend posted guild activities. (Reading the Brethren website for information on a daily basis should allow most members to attend guild activities frequently.) There are always understood exceptions due to other obligations in game and real life.

Members and/or Recruits are not allowed to be guild master of their own guild. This creates a conflict of loyalty and interests. Having a different character affiliated with a different guild/clan must be discussed with Warlord Aragorn and subject to his approval. Any member deciding to form their own guild must immediately resign from The Brethren. To use our set-up, message boards, website, mailing or ICQ contact lists, etc. as a resource to recruit for your guild is considered a BREACH of HONOR by The Brethren.

Guild buildings, houses and planned activities are intended for Brethren members. Certain activities, quests, or storylines may include invited non-members.

Non-guild color containers (and items within) not locked down, but kept inside guild buildings, should be considered private possessions of members and not to be used without the member's permission.

Frequently seek out and support with talents or deed as you are able, fellow Brethren when they are online. It is understood that there are times we prefer to pursue an interest on our own. Thus, to give a response such as, "now is not a good time for me" is acceptable.

Non-designated members of The Brethren may NOT supply Guild codes or passwords to any other person, whether they are a member of the Guild or not. Passwords are strictly for Brethren use ONLY. Designated members will use Email to provide qualified persons with needed information.

Members of guilds recognized as FRIENDS of the BRETHREN are to be treated with chivalry/courtesy and respect.

Any member found bringing dishonor to The Brethren will be dismissed.

Chain letters sent by Email or ICQ are strictly prohibited.

Cheating is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. Use of cheats and/or exploits to gain an unfair advantage over another player or to gain access to their possessions is not Honorable and violates The Brethren Standards of Conduct.

Hacking is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. We will cooperate with game GM and the law to fully prosecute anyone caught doing so.

The Brethren is an outstanding group of people who not only play online games together, but build and maintain lasting friendships/relationships with people of kindred spirits, have common interests and goals and have a genuine regard for belonging to something special.
